For the herring salad, in a bowl mix yogurt and mayonnaise with red beets. Cut the herring into small mouthfuls and add to the mixture.

Stir in the pickled onion from the jar as well. Chop the cucumber into very small pieces and stir into the mixture as well.

Season to taste with salt and pepper. Leave the herring salad to infuse in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.

Preparation Tip:

There are no limits to the imagination. If you like, you can also add cooked peas. If you like it sweet and sour, you can add diced apples to the herring salad.
