For the lauter sugar:

Instructions:

For the marzipan fruits, knead half of the marzipan paste and half of the powdered sugar with strawberry syrup and a few drops of red food coloring. Knead the rest of the marzipan paste and the powdered sugar with the elderberry syrup and a few drops of yellow food coloring. Model strawberries and apples from the red marzipan paste and apples, pears and bananas from the yellow marzipan paste.

Knead some marzipan paste with cocoa powder and press a small plate on the banana ends. Knead some marzipan paste with green food coloring and color the banana stem with it. Gently roll the strawberries over a grater to make a strawberry pattern. For the apple and pear finery or stems, stick cloves into the shaped fruit, and the strawberries get a pistachio stem.

For the lauter sugar, bring the water to a boil and stir in the sugars. Bring to a boil and pour into a bowl.

Brush the fruit with the sugar using a fine brush. If you want the apples and pears to have red spots, dab some red food coloring on the freshly brushed fruits and smudge it with your fingertip or a brush.

Let the marzipan fruits dry on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.

Preparation Tip:

You can expand the "fruit varieties" for marzipan fruits as you like - plums, cherries or peaches are also easy to shape. Small marzipan blueberries are perfect for decorating cakes.
